Kathleen (Kay) Humphreys
Kay gained a BSc in Biology and a MRes in Ecology, Evolution and Ecology at Oxford Brookes University in 2016/2017 respectively.
She then went on to work as a technician at a start-up pharmaceutical peptide discovery biotech company in Oxford. After a few years she moved to work at The Pirbright Institute as a research assistant to develop further her skills in flow cytometry and molecular biology.
Kay has worked on several projects around host response and antibody discovery. These projects have used pathogen or pathogen-like antigens including East Coast Fever, Foot and Mouth Disease, bovine Tuberculosis, bovine Respiratory Syncytial Virus and Bluetongue. Kay managed VLP production for the Immunogenetics team for two years.
Kay is starting a PhD at The Pirbright Institute to further progress her scientific career. She is working with Non-Vesicular Reference Laboratory Team on diagnostics before the PhD begins.
