The Pirbright Institute is a diverse and vibrant community of around 450 staff that includes many different backgrounds and experiences.
We bring together over 150 scientists and a range of experts in biosecurity, IT, commercialisation, finance, communications, and HR, all supported by strategic funding from the UKRI Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC).
Together, we all contribute to the Institute’s goals and purpose, supporting and enabling excellent scientific research and knowledge sharing. We do this through our shared commitment of Purpose and Values and a ‘one Institute’ mindset holding ourselves and others to a high standard of delivery and behaviours.
Our state-of-the-art campus in Surrey is a global research hub, featuring the world-leading BBSRC Virology Centre, high-containment laboratories, advanced animal facilities, and strong international collaborations. We are proud recipients of the Athena Swan award, reflecting our commitment to supporting gender equality.
