Dr Terry Jackson
After a brief career in the NHS, Terry obtained an honours degree in Biochemistry from the University of Surrey (1986) and a PhD in antibody engineering in the department of Microbiology at the same university (1990). His first post-doctoral position was with Andrew King and Dave Stuart working on foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) at The Pirbright Institute.
He became a group leader in 2004 and was more recently the Acting Head of the Livestock Viral Disease Programme at the Institute. Terry is currently an editor of the Journal of General Virology and a visiting Professor at the University of Surrey where he lectures undergraduates on foot-and-mouth disease.
