Sian Wells

Sian completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Reading, during which she completed a professional placement year within the Non-Vesicular Reference Laboratory at The Pirbright Institute working on inactivating African swine fever virus (ASFV) for the purpose of producing standardised reference materials.

Sian started her PhD project ‘B-cell responses in protection against African swine fever virus’ in October 2021, registered with The Pirbright Institute and the University of Surrey. The project aims to characterise the ASFV-specific antibody response and its functions by investigating neutralisation and antibody- and complement-dependant cytotoxicity.
