Sylvia Crossley
Sylvia graduated from the University of Leicester with a BSc Medical Biochemistry and from the University of Westminster with a Postgraduate Certificate in Biomedical Science. She then worked as a Research Assistant at Bio Products Laboratory in Elstree, UK for six years. She was based in the IgG and Albumin Development laboratory and her main project work was improving the purification yield of polyclonal IgG from human blood plasma.
Sylvia then worked at Emergent BioSolutions for nine years. She was based at their Wokingham (UK), Munich (Germany) and Gaithersburg (Maryland, USA) sites, where she progressed from Assistant Scientist to Principal Scientist in the Process Development department. Projects included development of manufacturing processes for protein and modified Vaccinia Ankara based human vaccines against Anthrax, Group B Streptococcus, Tuberculosis and Ebola.
Sylvia then completed an MSc Biotechnology at the University of Hertfordshire before joining the Pirbright Institute in November 2017. She is now an Antibody Purification Specialist who works on the Immunological Toolbox project.
