Samruddhi Deosthali
Samruddhi is a PhD student in T-cell biology group at the Pirbright Institute in collaboration with Royal Veterinary College. She is currently developing in vitro culture techniques including organoid cultures, 3D precision-cut tissue slices using swine lymph nodes and assessing T and B cell immune responses, including a comprehensive phenotyping of swine T & B cells. This could be a faster method to assess vaccine efficacies in future and reduce considerable number of experimental animals.
Before starting her PhD, she graduated in Veterinary Medicine from Bombay Veterinary College, Mumbai and completed her masters by research degree in Infectious Diseases from the University of Edinburgh. Her master’s project involved production of therapeutic mouse monoclonal antibodies targeting TNFR2, a receptor predominantly present on Regulatory T-cells and assessed their effects in different in-vivo mice models including colitis and tumour mice model. She is particularly fascinated by the T and B cell immune responses in infected animals.
