Dr Yvonne Sewell
Yvonne studied for her BSc in Biochemistry at the University of Bath. After taking on various research assistant roles at the University of Cambridge, she then undertook her PhD in biomedical research in a programme established between MedImmune and the University of Cambridge. Yvonne worked on establishing an in vitro model of human glomerulosclerosis.
After completing her PhD, Yvonne took up a postdoctoral position at The Pirbright Institute, as part of the Viral Immunology group where she investigates the development of new vaccines against foot and mouth disease (FMD), as well as the efficacy of existing FMD vaccines.
Yvonne then moved to the Immunogenetics group where she has been continuing her work on the development of new FMDV vaccines alongside supporting various projects of the Immunogenetics group running VNTs and IFNg elispot assays.
