Dr Sohail Raza
Sohail is passionate about advancing the field of virology by studying virus-host interactions to develop effective control measures, including vaccines and antiviral strategies, specifically targeting herpesviruses.
With extensive expertise in this area, his skill set includes the mutagenesis of herpesviruses using modern tools, recombinant DNA technology, protein-protein interaction studies, and advanced imaging techniques such as transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and confocal microscopy.
He is experienced in tissue culture, protein production and characterization, in vivo studies, and bioinformatic analysis, all of which are essential for a comprehensive understanding of viral mechanisms and vaccine efficacy.
Having worked in both BSL-2 and BSL-3 laboratories, Sohail possesses a thorough understanding of the challenges and requirements unique to each biosafety level. His role as a Biosafety Officer in BSL-3 settings has further strengthened his commitment to maintaining high safety standards and ensuring compliance with rigorous scientific practices. This background allows him to navigate complex research environments and contribute to innovative solutions in the field of infectious diseases and vaccine development.
