Dr Ranjitha Bommanna
Ranjitha studied for her bachelor’s degree in Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry at Veterinary College, Hassan, KVAFSU, India. She completed both her post-graduate studies and PhD at ICAR-Indian Veterinary Research Institute, India. During her postgrad Ranjitha studied the role of endoplasmic reticulum stress, unfolded protein response and autophagy in foot-and-mouth disease virus (FMDV) infection in vitro. During her PhD, she worked on the development of thermostable-negative marker FMDV vaccine candidate and studied the immune response in guinea pigs. After completing her PhD, Ranjitha has taken up a postdoctoral position at The Pirbright Institute in the Viral Immunology group, to work on the development of FMDV VLP vaccines and efficacy testing.
