Deyzi Santos

Deyzi earned her Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Biology from the University of Bristol and graduated with distinction in 2024 with a Master of Science (MSc) in Medical Microbiology from the University of Manchester. 

During her postgraduate studies, she honed her expertise in microbiology and molecular diagnostics. Following her academic achievements, Deyzi gained practical experience as a microbiology laboratory technician before joining The Pirbright Institute as a Junior Scientist in 2025.

At The Pirbright Institute, Deyzi contributes to the World Reference Laboratory for foot-and-mouth disease, working within the high-security SAPO4 biocontainment facility alongside a skilled team of scientists. As a member of the Royal Society of Biology, she has leveraged opportunities for professional development, networking, and recognition within the scientific community.

Driven by a passion for pathogens, genomics, and diagnostics, Deyzi remains committed to advancing her career and making a meaningful impact in the field.
